Last month, David Barnes, Director of Business Development at RLS, joined industry leaders from across the nuclear medicine ecosystem—including SHINE, SNMMI, NANP, UPPI, and Cardinal Health—at the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) conference in Washington, DC.
The NNSA, a U.S. Department of Energy agency, plays a critical role in strengthening national security through the safe, secure, and reliable management of nuclear materials, while also supporting the development of domestic, non-HEU–based production of medical isotopes essential to patient care.
The discussion focused on advancing Mo-99 production, strengthening security of supply, and improving the distribution of critical isotopes used in patient imaging. Participants also addressed key industry challenges, including reimbursement and long-term supply-chain resilience, all with the shared goal of improving quality, reliability, and patient access to essential nuclear-medicine procedures.
Conversations like these are vital to building a strong, sustainable future for the field—and for the patients who depend on it.
