Werner Gruner

Mr. Gruner has been serving in various capacities in the financial services industry for close to two decades. Before engaging in the buyout of the Bahamas subsidiary of Swiss banking group SYZ (awarded “Best Private Banking Boutique” globally for the last 5 consecutive years by Financial Times publications), he served as Director at Swiss private bank, Julius Baer and Andorran private bank, Andbank where he gained extensive experience in international banking and asset management.

In 2017 he founded Capitor, an international boutique consultancy group, which he now chairs. He has been an invitee speaker at conferences in South Africa, Kenya, the US and The Bahamas – where he has been domiciled since 2007. In 2012, Mr. Gruner was recognized with the “Professional of the Year” award, presented by Minister of Financial Services, the Honorable Ryan Pinder and the Bahamas Financial Services Board.

Mr. Gruner holds a Banking and Finance Diploma in Banking from the Credit Suisse Business School as well as an O1 US Visa for Individuals with Extraordinary Ability in Business and is fluent in English, Afrikaans and German.

Jaco van Niekerk

CIO

Mr. van Niekerk started his career within the investment banking sector in 1995 at Nedbank in South Africa followed by the launch of his own advisory business in structured finance where he successfully raised capital for various blue-chip companies in South Africa. In 2003 he founded Sizwe Asset Finance which provided innovative structured products for asset finance.

His career also saw him pioneer a finance division for Africa’s largest IT distributor in 2007 as well as co-founding Luxuriant in 2015, a firm that raised funding and structured credit facilities for IT, telecommunication and medical services companies. In 2020, Mr. van Niekerk relocated to Nassau, Bahamas where he also serves as CEO of Capitor Advisors, a boutique investment consulting firm that was paramount in successfully structuring and negotiating the buyout of the nuclear pharmacies business from GE Healthcare.

The firm also manages the Digital Disruption Hedge Fund, that has been outperforming its sector, especially during distressed times such as the recent COVID-19 pandemic.

Shane Cobb

COO

Mr. Cobb brings to RLS more than 31 years expertise in pharmacy and commercial operations in the molecular diagnostics and imaging business. He joins RLS from the acquisition of the GE Healthcare radiopharmacy division which includes the legacy Roche, Medi-Physics, Amersham, Nycomed Amersham and Amersham Health businesses.

In his prior roles, he lived and worked internationally, developed greenfield expansion opportunities, managed global radiopharmaceutical supply chains, provided leadership with Six Sigma Lean opportunities and led commercial sales teams. Additionally, Mr. Cobb has been significantly involved in Quality (QA) and Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) initiatives with the development and implementation of USP 797 standards, cleanroom design and project management while also leading efforts to establish the first nationally recognized radiopharmacy chain with Joint Commission Accreditation standards.

Mr. Cobb is a licensed pharmacist and holds a degree in pharmacy from the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy.

John Chapman

Mr. Chapman has over 30 years of Business Management experience, holding various high level positions in organizations in the financial sector. His vast experience originated within his home country of the United Kingdom.

Sam Chawla

Mr. Chawla has over 18 years of experience in healthcare corporate finance and is a member of the Investment Committee for the Credit Opportunities Funds at Perceptive Advisors LLC in New York.

Prior to joining Perceptive in 2013, he was Managing Director in the Global Healthcare Group at UBS Investment Bank. Mr. Chawla has in-depth experience in M&A advisory, underwriting debt and equity financings across healthcare.

He graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a B.A. in Economics and from Georgetown University with a MBA. Mr. Chawla currently serves as a member on the Dean’s Advisory Board for the Krieger School of Arts & Sciences at Johns Hopkins University.
